[SUMMER 2019]

Zhineng Qigong is an updated form of an ancient Chinese practice that energizes, heals and uplifts the whole person. Originally, it was reserved for the aristocracy and martial artists in China. But it became available to the Western world 50 years ago. There are over 1000 different forms of Qigong, but Zhineng Qigong is the most widely known. It is now practiced by over 100 million people worldwide. We have the good fortune to have several teachers here in Sutton.
Zhineng Qigong is for anyone seeking to learn a form of exercise that goes beyond the physical level to benefit the whole person. Its simple, relaxed movements, like meditation in motion, centers you in the present. It has the essence and gentleness of Taiji, yoga, meditation and ballet. And it can be easily practiced no matter what the person’s background, age, physical ability or disability.
Zhineng practice creates an exchange of energies – the internal energy inside our body with the universal energy field that surrounds us. This exchange amplifies our personal qi (energy), allowing it to flow unimpeded through every cell, promoting physical health, emotional well-being and a greater sense of connection with our self and those around us.
For this, our 4th spring and summer Qigong trainings in Sutton in the natural beauty of the Eastern Township from July 2nd to July 22nd, we have the pleasure of welcoming two extraordinary Zhineng teachers, Yan and Tan Peng who studied and worked in China with the originator of Zhineng Qigong, Dr. Pang Ming. Their experience, knowledge and love of sharing Qigong are evident.
A typical day of Zhineng training spans 3-5 hours, with a break for lunch and rest. The class starts with a gentle warm up, then a choreography of various movements. Students are encouraged to sit or recline as they need, and to never over exert themselves; it’s about learning to completely relax while going deeper into the movements. There is time at the end of the class for relaxing meditation and visualizations.
Many students who practice Qigong find themselves sleeping better, feeling calmer and more connected. For more information about upcoming Zhineng Qigong summer training, see the event on Facebook, or contact Tutti or Laird at 450-538-4041 or write to lrdmbrwn@gmail.com.
