The skilled Nouh Naim recently opened Autodiag, a new garage in Sutton. Originally from Morocco, mechanics is his passion.
Nouh Naim, who goes by Noah for ease of pronunciation, recently opened his own garage here in Sutton and is eager to share his wealth of knowledge with the community. I had the chance to sit down with him and his new apprentice, Kavy Beaudoin, for an inspiring conversation about his journey.
A Skilled Mechanics
Originally from Morocco, Noah spent hours as a young boy taking apart his bike and putting it back together. He soon realized that mechanics was his passion and eventually earned a degree in the field. He went on to work for several years with Toyota, Mercedes, and BMW. Later, he decided to enter a skills competition held by Morocco’s Office for Vocational Training and Job Promotion (OFPPT).
Among more than 500 candidates, Noah was selected as one of only 12 expert mechanics chosen to train future professionals. For five years, he taught various modules, keeping up with annual updates and evolving technologies. He enthusiastically recounted the material he used to teach—reciting details about different fuel systems, injectors, braking systems—everything impressively on the tip of his tongue. His apprentice, Kavy, listened in amazement.
From Morocco to Sutton
When I asked how he ended up in Sutton, his answer was simple. He didn’t choose Sutton—he believes it was destiny. At first, he considered moving to Germany to build a better life for himself and his young family. But then, out of nowhere, he received an email from a Quebec company looking for skilled mechanics. Taking a leap of faith, he sold his car to invest in the opportunity.
Noah’s first experience in Quebec wasn’t easy. His initial job in Gatineau, under a closed visa, turned out to be far from what he had hoped. Separated from his family for two years and disappointed by the working conditions, he clung to a common Québécois saying: “Tu vas l’avoir” (“You’ll get there”)—a way of telling yourself to take a breath, and trust that you have everything it takes to succeed.
Eventually, things got better. He was offered a job in Saint-Hyacinthe with Ford. Then later with Fix Auto, where he became the go-to problem solver for six locations. Looking to take the next step, he started thinking about opening his own garage when a friend mentioned one for rent in Sutton.
After months of commuting, Noah is now fully settled in Sutton with his wife and three children—the youngest just two months old. When asked how he feels about Sutton, he says that when he looks out from his apartment balcony and sees the sky and mountains, he feels a deep sense of peace. He expresses this by saying “Alhamdulillah”—an Arabic phrase that means gratitude to God.
His garage is called Autodiag N.H. inc and sits at 76 rue Principale Sud. You can reach him by phone at 450 538-1118 or visit www.autodiagnh.ca.
