Decades have been hard on the Grace Anglican Church’s beautiful historic architecture. Now it’s up to us to take the necessary steps to undertake its restoration.
For nearly two hundred years, the Grace Anglican Church’s building and steeple have been an iconic part of Sutton’s physical and cultural landscape. However, the decades have been hard on the church’s beautiful historic architecture. Now it’s up to us to take the necessary steps to undertake its restoration.
Severe dry rot threatened the structural integrity of the church’s soaring steeple, requiring it to be removed and restored in 2022, at a cost of over $100,000. The community responded generously and raised all the needed funds! Thank you!
Now a new roof is desperately needed, as are updates to heating systems, masonry, and interior facilities. The cost of this urgent and important work is estimated to be $215,000, of which $40,000 has already been raised. Now the remaining $175,000 is urgently needed. Your support is needed to preserve this historical and cultural legacy, and to continue to house the church’s vital community outreach. Grace Church is the oldest still-worshipping Christian congregation in Sutton with a mission rooted in its heart for the town and community it serves.
In addition to Sunday worship, Grace Anglican Church also engages in life-giving prison ministry and literacy support amongst inmates at the Cowansville Federal Penitentiary. The church is also involved in refugee sponsorship, addictions recovery, and so much more. Moreover, Grace Church is a beautiful cultural oasis within the town of Sutton. It is also a hosting space for musical and theatrical events, recreational activities, and social gatherings. Grace Church is a place of welcome and hospitality to all.
Your support in this urgent and important capital project is crucial. It will enable Grace Church to continue to be a meaningful part of Sutton’s physical and cultural fabric. It will help the church serve the needs of the community with love and grace — saving grace! And yes, all donations are tax deductible. To donate, visit www.canadahelps.org.
