The Brome Lake Garden Club offers exciting garden tours from intimate private gardens to grand estates, memorable trips to Reford Gardens in Grand Métis and the Montreal Botanical Gardens, educational winter lectures and a mid-summer picnic.
The Brome Lake Garden Club (covering the Sutton and Lac-Brome territory) was founded in 1985 by two enthusiastic and knowledgeable gardeners, John Mitchell and Donald Miller. They wanted to share their passion for gardening and horticulture with a small membership.
35 years of existence
Today, after 35 years little has changed with the Brome Lake Garden Club’s mission. By offering exciting garden tours from intimate private gardens to grand estates, memorable trips to Reford Gardens in Grand Métis and the Montreal Botanical Gardens, educational winter lectures and the ever-popular mid-summer picnic (always a sold-out social event!) – all have helped grow the current membership to almost 200.
Covid effects
Like many organizations, Covid curtailed most of the Brome Lake Garden Club’s planned 2020/2021 programs. As restrictions lift, the Club is confidently planning some speaker events and actively seeking out potential properties to visit next spring and summer. Members’ suggestions are always welcome so if you know of any visit-worthy properties, please let the Club know.
Gardening enthusiasts welcome!
If you are new to the surrounding area what better way to meet others who share a love of gardens and gardening. Gardening enthusiasts of all levels are welcome. Brome Lake Garden Club membership is a very reasonable $25 (couples $35). Forms to join may be found on www.bromelakegc.org.
