Alas, we have already made it to August, which means our summertime fun is coming to an end ever so quickly. From a sunny day to family gatherings, summer leaves us nostalgic. Something that makes me nostalgic is the taste of chocolate. Not the kind you get from grocery store stands, but homemade chocolate like the one at Chocolaterie Muriel in Sutton.
Every Easter, my grandmother and grandfather would treat my brother and me to a chocolate-shaped bunny or duck from the Chocolaterie Muriel in Sutton. My personal favourite, wrapped with a decorative ribbon, was the chocolate bunny. It was a tradition to celebrate Easter with local and homemade chocolate—and a delicious one!
Offering a lovely selection of homemade chocolate creations, the Chocolaterie Muriel is located in the heart of Sutton. The owner, Muriel, makes homemade chocolates of all sorts, and even festive treats for special occasions such as Easter, Mother’s Day, and Halloween. The themed chocolates offer great detail, precision, and deliciousness. From Easter bunny chocolate carvings to Mother’s Day chocolate flower bouquets, there is plenty to choose from no matter what occasion, which makes for a heartfelt and, not to mention, yummy gift.
At Halloween, homemade chocolates are given to trick-or-treaters. Who can say ‘No’ to homemade chocolate? It is definitely worth stopping at the Chocolaterie Muriel on your trick-or-treat route this Hallows Eve.
Aside from holiday treats, there is a variety of assorted chocolates, as well as ice cream and sherbets in-store. Muriel even makes her own waffle cones. For those of you who have kids or a kid’s heart, know that Muriel can also bring chocolate making into your home for a birthday party so everyone goes home with their own delicious homemade chocolate treat.
As our summer days leave us ever so quickly, and fall settles in the Townships, we will reminisce as we do every season. However, for every season, there is something to hold on to: chocolate. So, on your next visit or stroll through town, stop by the Chocolaterie Muriel to grab a few sweet treats or surprise someone with chocolate for any occasion.
